Standards define what students need to know and be able to do. When we expect more from students, they achieve more. We also know that quality teachers are key to increasing student achievement. However, teachers cannot do the job alone.

We must help teachers understand the academic content standards and provide them with research, data, tools and training that support their efforts to help all students achieve at high levels.
